Global warming is a scientific reality and the most urgent issue of our time. This is a moral issue, as global warming affects not only the environment, but also our public health, national security, and even our survival as a species.
Scientists warn of catastrophic weather, environmental destruction, and increased health risks as a result of global warming. The giant ice sheets melting in the Arctic are already causing oceans to rise, and within this century there will be massive devastation and economic catastrophe to coastal populations worldwide. We can begin to make significant repairs to reverse these impacts, but only through immediate action.By making simple changes, we can reduce the amount of global warming pollution (carbon dioxide) released into the atmosphere. This online grassroots movement is about change – as individuals, as a country, and as a global community. We are all contributors to global warming and must all be part of the solution.With the support of leading scientists, political, religious, cultural and business leaders – including Senator John McCain, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, The National Council of Churches, Sheryl Crow, the Union of Concerned Scientists, Leonardo DiCaprio and former Vice President Al Gore – the Stop Global Warming Virtual March is creating one, loud collective voice against global warming. By spreading the word, we are building a movement to stop global warming, using our collective power to force governments, corporations, and ordinary citizens everywhere to pay attention.
